Prof Andi Jayalangkara Tanra

Professor Andi Jayalangkara Tanra is a Professor in the Psychiatry Department
at Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Indonesia, a Clinical Lecturer at Shimane
University, Japan, a Liaison Professor at Niigata University, Japan, and
an expert in Biological Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology.
After graduating from the Ph.D. program at Hiroshima University, Japan,
in 1995, he conducted various research projects in Indonesia focused on
mental health, schizophrenia, biological psychiatry, and psychopharmacology.
His work primarily explored biomarkers, interleukins, and the cognitive
improvement of schizophrenia patients following adjuvant therapy and psychopharmacological
treatment. As a result of his research, he published several articles in
international journals. Additionally, he has formed research collaborations
with over 20 countries in Asia through the REAP Study on prescribing psychotropic
drugs.
In addition, he has established numerous collaborations with various universities
in Japan, which have led to the supervision of 15 Ph.D. students at both
Shimane University and Niigata University. Currently, he holds the positions
of President of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations (AFPA)
and President of the Indonesian Psychiatric Association (IPA).
